Balatro hit a huge sales milestone

Balatro, the indie roguelike developed by a single person, continues its phenomenal success story. The game, which surprised both players and critics last year, has now sold over 5 million copies, a milestone achieved in just under a year since its release.

Remarkably, Balatro's sales surged by 1.5 million copies in approximately 40 days, following a previous milestone of 3.5 million sales. This rapid growth is likely attributed to the impact of The Game Awards, as hinted by the developer, LocalThunk.

Harvey Elliott, CEO of Playstack, the game's publisher, lauded this achievement as incredible, expressing pride in both LocalThunk and the Playstack team. Balatro's continued success is evident in its ongoing updates, exciting collaborations, and a recent peak in concurrent Steam players. The card-based roguelike remains a thriving title, proving its enduring appeal.
