Honkai Star Rail 3.2 Update Enhances Banner System Flexibility

By SebastianMay 08,2025

Gacha mechanics are a fundamental part of Honkai Star Rail, and it appears that miHoYo (now known as HoYoverse) is set to offer players greater control over their character pulls. Exciting leaks from Sakura Haven indicate that significant modifications to the banner system will be rolled out starting with version 3.2, revolutionizing how players engage with the game's gacha mechanics.

The 3.2 update is set to introduce a groundbreaking customizable pity system for limited banners. Rather than being stuck with a fixed pool of characters for 50/50 pity pulls, players will now have the option to handpick their preferred characters from a curated selection. These selections can either partially or fully replace the standard pool, empowering players with more control over their rewards.

Currently, the 50/50 pity pool includes 7 standard characters. With the introduction of version 3.2, this will transition to a 'Group' of characters from which you can choose. You'll select 7 characters from this 'Group' to create your personalized 50/50 pity pool. This means that if you don't win your desired character on a 50/50 roll, you'll receive one from your custom pool instead of the default standard characters.

The 'Group' will initially consist of the 7 standard characters alongside a limited selection of additional characters to choose from.

This update has the potential to significantly enhance the player experience by alleviating frustration and offering greater flexibility. By allowing players to tailor their pity pool, miHoYo is addressing a major grievance with gacha systems: the unpredictability of losing pity rolls. With the ability to prioritize specific characters, players will have a higher likelihood of obtaining units that align with their playstyle or preferences.

However, specifics about the characters included in the selectable pool are still under wraps. It remains to be seen whether the pool will encompass past limited characters, current banner units, or even brand-new additions.

These proposed changes underscore miHoYo’s commitment to refining Honkai Star Rail and enhancing its player-friendliness. By introducing a customizable pity system, the developers are recognizing the significance of player choice in gacha games. This move could establish a new benchmark for how similar systems are crafted in other titles.

While the full scope and impact of this feature are yet to be revealed, the announcement has already ignited excitement among the community. Fans are eagerly anticipating how these changes will transform their gameplay experience when Honkai Star Rail 3.2 is released.
