Alan Wake 2 Devs Strive for European Naughty Dog Status

Remedy Entertainment's ambition: To become the European Naughty Dog. Inspired by Naughty Dog's cinematic masterpieces, particularly the Uncharted series, Remedy aims to establish itself as a leading European developer of narrative-driven games, according to Alan Wake 2 director Kyle Rowley.

Rowley, in a Behind The Voice podcast interview, detailed how this aspiration shaped Quantum Break and, significantly, Alan Wake 2. He explicitly stated their goal: "We should aspire to be the European version of Naughty Dog."

This influence is palpable in Alan Wake 2's cinematic presentation, lauded for its stunning visuals and compelling narrative. The game's success has firmly cemented Remedy's position amongst Europe's top studios.

Remedy's aspirations extend beyond the horror genre. Naughty Dog's dominance in single-player cinematic experiences, exemplified by Uncharted and the critically acclaimed The Last of Us (a franchise considered among the most decorated in gaming history), serves as a clear benchmark.

Alan Wake 2, over a year post-launch, continues to receive updates enhancing gameplay across all platforms. These improvements include significant optimizations for the PS5 Pro. A new "Balanced" graphics option is introduced, effectively merging the best aspects of the PS5 Pro Performance and Quality modes.

These updates also refine the game's graphics settings, aiming for a smoother framerate and reduced visual noise. Alongside PS5 Pro enhancements, minor bug fixes address gameplay issues, particularly within the Lake House expansion.
