Bloodmoon Island is a mysterious and captivating region situated in the northern part of Reaper's Coast. Encircled by the lethal Deathfog and with its connecting bridge destroyed, the island presents a daunting challenge to reach. Venturing onto Bloodmoon Island not only deepens the main storyline but also unlocks a variety of intriguing side quests. Yet, the game offers scant guidance on navigating the Deathfog to reach this secluded locale, leaving players to scour Reaper's Coast for clues. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to access Bloodmoon Island and advance your journey in Divinity: Original Sin 2.

Spirit Vision Shows The Way

The now-ruined bridge that once connected Bloodmoon Island to Reaper's Coast's mainland can be found northeast of Cloisterwood, near the locations of Jahan and Witch Alice. Upon reaching the bridge, you'll also find the Driftwood Fields waypoint. By casting Spirit Vision, you'll be able to see the broken sections of the bridge, which is segmented and partially trapped, complicating your crossing. However, with the right tools and skills, traversing this ghostly bridge becomes manageable:

  1. Gloves of Teleportation: Acquired in the game's first act, these gloves allow you to use the teleportation skill without learning it. Though it's a bit of a process, you can teleport each party member across the bridge using these gloves.
  2. Translocation Skills: Skills such as Phoenix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat enable teleportation, making them invaluable for crossing the broken bridge. The challenge here is ensuring all party members can use these skills, which leads to our next strategy.
  3. Teleporter Pyramids: The game features four Teleporter Pyramids, which allow warping between them. To cross the bridge, place one pyramid in a companion's inventory, have them use translocation skills to reach the other side, and then the rest of the party can warp to them.
  4. Fast Travel: If a party member with translocation skills successfully crosses the bridge, they can discover the Bloodmoon Island waypoint, allowing the rest of the party to fast travel directly to the island, bypassing the bridge altogether.

Take The Ferry Across The Deathfog

While the aforementioned methods facilitate easy access to Bloodmoon Island, parties including Fane have an additional option. As an undead character, Fane is immune to the Deathfog, making him uniquely capable of safely traversing it. Northwest of Cloisterwood, you'll find a pier where an undead ferryman offers passage across the Deathfog to Bloodmoon Island. However, this is a deceptive offer that results in the death of all party members except Fane. If Fane travels alone, he'll reach the island safely, uncover the waypoint, and enable the rest of the party to fast travel to join him.

Taking The Ferry Without Fane In The Party

For parties without Fane who still want to use the ferry, the Teleporter Pyramids come into play once more. You'll need at least two pyramids for this strategy:

  1. Separate a party member carrying a Teleporter Pyramid and have them board the ferry.
  2. Upon arrival, this party member will be dead on Bloodmoon Island's pier.
  3. Use the second pyramid with the rest of the party to teleport to the deceased companion.
  4. Revive the fallen party member using a resurrection spell or scroll.

If your party doesn't include Fane, opting for the bridge method is generally faster and safer.

It's crucial not to engage the Undead Ferryman in combat, as he can unleash a Deathfog spell, leading to instant party wipeout. If you're determined to challenge him, make sure to quick save before attacking. Defeating him rewards you with a Soothing Cold skillbook, a regular belt, and 3,750 XP.
