Pirate Software Booted from OnlyFangs WoW Guild

Pirate Software has been removed from the World of Warcraft streamer guild, OnlyFangs, following a disastrous Dire Maul North run on the recently added Anniversary servers. This incident, which resulted in the Hardcore deaths of guild members Sara and Snupy, has stirred significant controversy within the community.

The Dire Maul dungeon, newly introduced to the World of Warcraft Anniversary servers, has proven challenging for many players, including those in OnlyFangs. Before the official launch of Hardcore servers by Blizzard in August 2023, players were already engaging in zero-death runs under self-imposed rules. The introduction of the Anniversary servers in November 2024 revitalized interest in World of Warcraft Classic, overshadowing the original Classic servers with their low population. Despite the excitement, the new servers have led to numerous Hardcore deaths, with only a few players managing to reach level 60 under these stringent conditions.

According to Guild Master Sodapoppin's statement on Discord, the decision to remove Pirate Software was influenced by the discomfort of many guild members following the deaths of Sara and Snupy. The incident occurred when the group, after pulling aggro on a boss before clearing a pack of Gordok ogres, attempted to reset the enemies by fleeing the dungeon. Pirate Software's decision to abandon the group during this critical moment was pivotal. Despite the possibility of remaining in the guild under typical OnlyFangs rules, Pirate Software's refusal to acknowledge his role in the mishap led to his ousting. The event, captured in a video that includes strong language, highlights the tension and the stakes involved in Hardcore gameplay.

The primary criticism leveled against Pirate Software centers on his ineffective use of crowd control abilities during the run. Sodapoppin, in a review of the incident, noted that Pirate Software could have utilized Blizzard rank 1 to manage the enemies more effectively without exhausting his mana reserves. Additionally, fellow OnlyFangs member Mizkif suggested that threats made by Pirate Software towards other streamers post-incident contributed to his removal. Pirate Software took to Twitter to express his dissatisfaction with how the situation was managed, indicating ongoing friction.

Since the guild's recreation on the Anniversary server Doomhowl, OnlyFangs has seen several members being removed. As Blizzard continues to update World of Warcraft Classic with patches that accurately reflect the Vanilla experience, the community anticipates more challenges and potential Hardcore deaths with the addition of new dungeons and raids.
