Legacy of Kain Devs Announce New Encyclopedia and TTRPG Set in Nosgoth

Crystal Dynamics and UK-based design studio Lost in Cult have exciting news for fans of the iconic Legacy of Kain series. Following the December 2024 release of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered, the developers are set to expand the franchise with an encyclopedia and a tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) set in the dark world of Nosgoth.

Lost in Cult and Cook and Becker Announced Legacy of Kain Encyclopedia

Crystal Dynamics, the renowned California-based game developer, has announced two new projects for the Legacy of Kain franchise in collaboration with the UK-based creative design studio Lost In Cult and Dutch art dealership Cook and Becker. "We’re incredibly excited to be diving back into the world of Nosgoth with these two passion projects," said Ryan Brown of Lost In Cult.

The first project, The Book of Nosgoth, is an official encyclopedia dedicated to the gothic world of Nosgoth. Authored by Nic Reuben of Rock Paper Shotgun, this comprehensive guide will explore the locations, factions, and inhabitants of Nosgoth. It will feature a detailed timeline chronicling the epic rivalry between Kain and Raziel, along with behind-the-scenes insights into the development of the Legacy of Kain games. Expect original concept art, sketches, maps, and exclusive interviews with the developers, providing a deep dive into the series’ production history.

An Official Legacy of Kain TTRPG Will Also Be Releasing Soon

The second project, Legacy of Kain: Scourge of Sarafan, is an atmospheric TTRPG set in Nosgoth during the Sarafan Order’s crusade against vampiric scourges. Utilizing the critically acclaimed MÖRK BORG ruleset, this game promises a mechanics-light, high-stakes experience where players take on the roles of the Sarafan Order's warrior priests.

With six playable classes, unique weapons and spells, an official bestiary of nocturnal horrors, and the vast landscape of Nosgoth, Legacy of Kain: Scourge of Sarafan offers players the chance to explore vampire hunts, uncover hidden history, and venture into the spectral realm, crafting their own unique campaigns.
