Dragon Age: Veilguard Surprise Free Weapon DLC Released

BioWare may have largely shifted its focus away from Dragon Age: The Veilguard, but that hasn't stopped the dedicated remaining team from delighting fans with a surprise addition: a small DLC weapons pack. The unexpected update to the RPG’s Steam page revealed the Rook’s Weapons Appearance Offer, a free add-on that has sent ripples of excitement through the Dragon Age community. Given that EA had previously indicated minimal future support for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, this new content, despite being modest, feels like a welcome miracle. Especially since the fifth patch in January promised future updates would primarily address game-breaking bugs, the arrival of brand-new content is a pleasant surprise.

Dragon Age fans were astounded to learn that the Rook’s Weapons Appearance Offer is exclusively available to current owners and new buyers on PC until April 8, 2025. Although the bundle's specific contents remain undisclosed, players have discovered that it includes a set of Watchful skins accessible in their Rook's in-game room. It's still uncertain whether this offer will extend to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S versions of the game.

Despite the modest nature of the new appearances, one Steam review humorously noted, "Even if these appearances aren't the most, uh, beautiful things ever, they do give spooky eldritch horror vibes!" On Reddit, a user expressed gratitude for the update, stating, "It's cosmetic DLC, but it's essentially free DLC for a game that's practically no longer getting newer content. I'll live with that."

Dragon Age: The Veilguard launched to positive reviews from critics in October, but according to EA, it failed to capture a broad enough audience. In a significant shift, lead members of the team announced their departure from BioWare in late January, with much of the staff either laid off or reassigned to other projects within the company. At that time, EA informed IGN that the studio was now fully focused on the next installment of the Mass Effect series.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard became part of the PlayStation Plus March 2025 titles just four months after its release, yet no further plans for its future have been disclosed.
