In a surprising turn of events, following the State of Play announcement, Gearbox Entertainment CEO Randy Pitchford shared a video on Twitter (X) on April 29, revealing that Borderlands 4 will now launch on September 12. Although the video was quickly deleted and replaced with a message about posting prematurely, the news was confirmed by Borderlands 4's official Twitter (X) account.

Pitchford expressed in the video that the development process has been exceptionally smooth, describing it as "everything’s going kinda the best scenario."
