"Assassin's Creed Shadows: Full Completion Estimated at 80 Hours"

By CarterMay 14,2025

Creative director Jonathan Dumont has shared exciting details about the anticipated playtime for Assassin's Creed Shadows. In an interview with journalist Genki, Dumont revealed that completing the core narrative of the game will take players approximately 30 to 40 hours. For those eager to delve deeper, exploring all the optional content could extend the experience by another 30 to 40 hours, culminating in a total playtime of around 80 hours. This clarity on time commitment offers fans a better understanding of what to expect from their journey through Shadows.

Previously, Dumont had likened Shadows to earlier titles in the series, such as Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. However, given the significant variation in length among these games, such comparisons were of limited utility. Recognizing the challenges in measuring the scope of open-world experiences, Dumont honed his comparison, specifically aligning Shadows with Origins. According to How Long To Beat, Origins requires roughly 30 hours to complete its main campaign, with completionists needing upwards of 80 hours to see everything.

For fans wary of excessively long gameplay, Shadows seems poised to strike a more balanced approach. In contrast, Valhalla has faced criticism for its 60-hour main story and a staggering 150-hour potential when all content is considered. If Dumont's estimates hold true, Shadows promises a more manageable yet richly rewarding experience.

Mark your calendars—Assassin's Creed Shadows is set to launch on March 20th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
