To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is letting fans choose its next official merchandise line! Fans can select from an incredible 100 items, with the top two vote-getters slated for production within the next two years. The voting, currently available only in Japanese, takes place on the official website.
While some options are more traditional, like anniversary hoodies and pencil cases, many others are delightfully bizarre and draw inspiration from the series' famously outlandish history.
Among the more unusual choices are Munan Suzuki's cult outfit from Yakuza 0, Majima's oversized traffic cone hiding spot from Yakuza Kiwami, and the intriguingly named "Puffy Gold Pants." Other options include Majima's sake cup from Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Akiyama's gold watch, Kiryu's fountain pen from Yakuza 6, Kashiwagi's tambourine from Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Kiryu's wrestling mask from Yakuza 3, and Saejima's prison uniform from Yakuza 4.
2025 will see at least one new Yakuza/Like a Dragon title launch, with Like a Dragon: Pirate of the Caribbean arriving on February 21st. While the studio hasn't confirmed any anniversary-related projects beyond this, its history of rapid development suggests further releases are possible. In the past five years alone, RGG Studio has released Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Judgment Remastered, Lost Judgment, Like a Dragon: Ishin, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, and two Super Monkey Ball games, plus an enhanced remaster of Virtua Fighter 5—a total of nine games!
