Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members have just received a game-changing perk: the ability to stream select games directly to their Xbox Series X, S, and Xbox One consoles without the need for downloading. This exciting update was shared today through an Xbox Wire news post, which highlighted that Ultimate members can now enjoy streaming games from the Game Pass catalog, as well as certain games they already own, directly on their consoles through cloud streaming.
Previously, this streaming feature was available on smart TVs, PCs, smartphones, and Meta Quest headsets, but this marks the first time it's been extended to Xbox consoles. This new feature is a boon for gamers looking to save time and conserve precious hard drive space, as it eliminates the need for lengthy downloads.
To take advantage of this feature on your Xbox console, follow these steps:
- Go to My games & apps > Full library > Owned Games.
- Cloud-playable games will be marked with a cloud badge on their game page. To find them more quickly, use the filters by selecting Filter > Ready to play > Cloud gaming.
- Select the game you want to play and choose Play with Cloud Gaming to start streaming. You can also start streaming directly from the Store app after purchasing select cloud-playable games.
Conversely, if you have games installed on your Xbox console, you can stream them to devices with supported web browsers via this link. Note that this feature is no longer supported on the Xbox mobile app but remains available on smartphones through the browser link. Xbox is also expanding this feature to Samsung and Amazon Fire smart TVs, and Meta Quest headsets.
In another exciting development, Xbox announced that starting this month, Xbox and Xbox 360 backward compatible games will also support remote play, further enhancing the versatility of your gaming experience.

The Xbox Wire post also introduced a new feature in the console's settings to help manage hard drive space more efficiently. You can access this feature through My Games & Apps > Manage, where you'll find recommendations for cleaning up your hard drive.
