Space Marine 2 Hotfix 8.1 Tackles Crashes, Rewards Issues

By EmilyJan 14,2026

The highly anticipated Siege Mode update for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 launched last week, bringing both excitement and technical challenges for players.

Siege Mode introduces Space Marine 2's version of the classic Horde gameplay, where squads of three battle increasingly difficult Tyranid and Chaos forces to earn unique rewards.

While Patch 8 and Siege Mode have been well received, evident in Space Marine 2's rising Steam player counts, intermittent connectivity issues persist - particularly frustrating during late-wave battles.

Player frustrations continued through July 2, with Reddit user Justusowesme expressing their dismay: "After nearly three hours in an epic Siege Mode session with skilled teammates, server failures robbed us of rewards and closure right before extraction."

"The intense battle deserved proper recognition," they continued. "While I enjoyed the gameplay, losing hours of progress feels unacceptable. The development team is clearly working on fixes, but this experience was genuinely disheartening."

Developer Saber Interactive and publisher Focus Entertainment have deployed Hotfix 8.1 across all platforms, addressing critical crashes, connectivity problems, and Siege Mode reward unlocks including the 25-wave completion achievement.

Early reports suggest this update may resolve the most pressing Siege Mode issues, though full stabilization remains ongoing.

Future updates promise substantial content additions - Patch 9 focuses on balancing, while Patch 10 will introduce Chaos faction PvP battles, the Power Axe weapon, and the Techmarine class. Full Patch 10 details are available separately.
