Ubisoft Responds to Assassin's Creed Shadows Leak

By JoshuaMar 15,2025

On February 24th, news broke of an Assassin's Creed Shadows leak, with numerous individuals streaming the game online a month before its official March 20th release. Over the weekend, deleted social media posts and streams on platforms like Twitch revealed physical copies being sold early.

Ubisoft, the developer and publisher, acknowledged the leak on the Assassin's Creed subreddit, urging players to avoid spoiling the game for others. They stated that the leaked footage doesn't reflect the final game quality, as the team is still working on pre-launch patches. Ubisoft pleaded with the community to refrain from sharing spoilers, thanking those already working to protect the game's experience. They ended their statement with a reminder of the official release date and a promise of more surprises to come.

This leak adds to Ubisoft's recent challenges. The team previously apologized for unauthorized use of a historical recreation group's flag and for inaccuracies in the game's depiction of Japan. Assassin's Creed Shadows, initially slated for November release, saw delays to February 14th and then to its current March 20th launch date. The game's success is crucial for Ubisoft, which has faced underperforming sales of recent titles and investor criticism.
