Assassin's Creed Shadows: A March 2025 Release Date
Ubisoft has announced another delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing the release date back to March 20, 2025. Initially slated for a February 14, 2025 launch, this marks a five-week postponement from the previously announced date. The publisher cites the need for further refinement and polishing based on player feedback as the reason for the delay.
The game's journey to release has been marked by setbacks. A significant three-month delay was announced in September 2024, moving the launch from November 15, 2024 to February 14, 2025. While the initial delay was attributed to unspecified development challenges, this latest postponement directly addresses player feedback.
Marc-Alexis Coté, vice president executive producer of the Assassin's Creed franchise, emphasized Ubisoft's commitment to delivering a high-quality, immersive experience. He highlighted the ongoing communication between the development team and players, stating that the extra time will allow for further refinement and polishing.

The September delay resulted in pre-order refunds and the promise of free access to the game's first expansion for future pre-orders. Ubisoft has yet to comment on whether similar compensation will be offered for this latest delay. The shorter timeframe of this postponement may mitigate potential player frustration compared to the previous three-month delay.
This additional delay might also be linked to Ubisoft's internal investigation into its practices, launched to improve player focus and address recent financial losses. Incorporating fan feedback into Assassin's Creed Shadows aligns with this initiative to create a more "player-centric" approach to game development.
