We're just weeks away from the Nintendo Switch 2 debut, and while debates rage about pricing, tariffs, and digital game distribution, one major publisher is expressing strong confidence in the upcoming console: Take-Two Interactive.
During today's investor Q&A following their annual earnings report, CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed notable optimism about Nintendo's next-generation system. When asked about Take-Two's commitment to the platform, Zelnick highlighted unprecedented third-party support from Nintendo:
"We're releasing four titles for Nintendo Switch 2 at launch - more than we've ever introduced with a new Nintendo platform. While third-party publishing on Nintendo systems has traditionally presented challenges, they've made significant progress addressing those concerns. We're matching their commitment because we see real potential here. Our approach remains selective - we follow where players go - but we recognize substantial back catalog opportunities too."
Take-Two's confirmed launch lineup includes Civilization 7 (releasing June 5 alongside the console), future NBA 2K and WWE 2K entries (specific titles unconfirmed), and Borderlands 4 (September 12). While these announcements aren't shocking - all four franchises already have Switch presence - Zelnick's remarks suggest possible future expansions into their catalog. Grand Theft Auto 6 seems unlikely, but perhaps its predecessor could eventually make the jump?
In our exclusive pre-call interview with Zelnick, we discussed quarterly performance and the delayed GTA 6 release now scheduled for next year.
