In a revealing interview with Dengeki Online on March 4, 2025, the team behind Suikoden I & II HD Remaster (Suikoden 1 and 2 HDR) shared insights into their meticulous process.

Initially announced in 2022 with a planned release for 2023, the project faced delays and is now set to launch this year. Takahiro Sakiyama, the IP and Game Director for the Suikoden Gensho series, explained that the extended development was necessary to ensure quality. He noted, "As we approached the end of development, we encountered issues that required us to reassess our progress, leading to the postponement of our original release date."

Tatsuya Ogushi, the Game Director for Suikoden 1 and 2 HDR, elaborated on their approach, saying, "Our strategy was not about rushing into changes but understanding the current state. After thorough discussions with Sakiyama on quality standards, it was evident that significant improvements were needed, and we tackled them head-on."

Konami announced "Suikoden: The Anime," an adaptation based on the narrative of Suikoden 2, marking the first foray into anime production for Konami Animation. Additionally, a new mobile game, "Genso Suikoden: STAR LEAP," was revealed. Both projects have released teaser trailers, although specific release dates remain undisclosed.
