Split Fiction Hits 2 Million Sales After Just 1 Week

By MiaMar 18,2025

Hazelight Games' latest cooperative adventure, Split Fiction, is experiencing a phenomenal launch, selling 2 million copies in just one week. Released on March 6th for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, the dual-protagonist story quickly became another triumph for the studio. Hazelight celebrated this strong start on social media, expressing their amazement at the overwhelming support from both new and returning fans.

Just 48 hours after launch, Split Fiction had already sold 1 million copies. The additional million copies sold in the following five days highlights the game's incredible momentum. Considering Split Fiction's cooperative nature, the actual player count is undoubtedly significantly higher than the number of copies sold. This impact is further amplified by the game's innovative Friend's Pass feature, allowing one player to purchase the game and grant free access to a friend. With continued positive buzz on social media, the 2 million sales figure is expected to climb even higher.

Hazelight's previous title, the 2021 Game of the Year winner It Takes Two, saw a similarly impressive launch, selling approximately 1 million copies within weeks of its March 2021 release. This success continued, reaching 10 million copies sold by February 2023 and an astounding 20 million by October 2024.

IGN's review of Split Fiction praised it as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another."
