Save $50 Off a Used: Like New PlayStation Portal on Amazon (Update: New Price Drop)

By NoraMay 15,2025

The PlayStation Portal has never been discounted, but now you can snag a used one at a great price. Amazon Resale (formerly Amazon Warehouse) is offering Used: Like New condition PS Portals for just $150.23, shipped. This represents a 25% saving off the original $199 price tag for a new unit. While a Sony warranty may not be included, Amazon Resale items come with the same reassuring 30-day return policy as new purchases. Given the popularity, these units are expected to sell out quickly.

Update: The price has now dropped to $150.23, marking the lowest we've seen for a Used: Like New PS Portal.

The unit looks and functions as if it were new, with only moderate packing damage observed during inspection.

The PS Portal, Sony's innovative handheld gaming accessory for the PS5, resembles an extended split-pad DualSense controller with an 8-inch 1080p LCD screen at its center. It transforms your PS5 into a portable gaming device by streaming games from your console at up to 60fps. The controller retains all the beloved features of the DualSense, such as haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a touchscreen that serves as a substitute for the DualSense's touchpad. For remote play outside your home, a very stable, very fast internet connection is essential. Remember, the PS Portal isn't a standalone device; it requires a PS5 to function.

Update: You no longer need a PS5 to play games on the PS Portal. Sony has introduced a groundbreaking feature allowing owners to stream games directly from its PlayStation Now cloud streaming service, bypassing the need for a PS5. This means Portal owners can now choose to connect either to their PS5 or directly to Sony’s cloud servers, unlocking a vast library of over 120 games, including titles like Ghost of Tsushima, Resident Evil 3 Remake, The Last of Us Part 1 Remastered, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Note that you must subscribe to the highest tier of PlayStation Plus, but at $18 a month, this is a more cost-effective option than purchasing a PS5 and individual games.

It's worth mentioning that while the PlayStation Portal offers a convenient way to stream your PS5 games over Wi-Fi, you can achieve similar functionality by using the PS Remote Play app on a mobile device or other gaming handhelds like the Steam Deck. However, this alternative method is more complex to set up and lacks some of the DualSense's unique features.

PlayStation Portal Review by Seth Macy**

"The PlayStation Portal has exceeded my expectations and turned skepticism into admiration. It's a vastly superior experience compared to using a phone with an attached controller, and it performs better than I ever anticipated. The freedom to play my PS5 games from anywhere with decent WiFi is a game-changer, especially when my family is monopolizing the TV with the Switch. Although it requires a PlayStation 5 to function, the Portal's potential is slightly hampered by its inability to connect to WiFi that requires a web browser login and its lack of Bluetooth audio support. Despite these limitations, it remains the best solution for PlayStation Remote Play and is a must-have for PS5 owners who enjoy handheld gaming or need to share the TV."
