Score a screaming deal on Samsung's latest and greatest SSD! The Samsung 990 Evo Plus 2TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 NVMe solid state drive is currently on sale for just $129.99 – that's even cheaper than its Black Friday price! You're saving a cool $40 compared to the Samsung 990 Pro, and for most gamers, the performance difference is negligible.

The Samsung 990 Evo Plus is a fantastic drive for both your gaming PC and PS5. It easily surpasses Sony's minimum speed requirements for the PS5, boasting sequential read speeds up to 7,250 MB/s and write speeds up to 6,300 MB/s. While not quite as fast as the 990 Pro, it's significantly faster than the standard 990 Evo. The key difference? This model lacks DRAM. However, for PS5 gaming, this makes no difference whatsoever. For PCs, it utilizes HMB (host memory buffer), cleverly borrowing a tiny amount of your system RAM – a difference you won't even notice.

This SSD doesn't come with a pre-installed heatsink. But, as a newer, single-sided design, it's energy-efficient and generates less heat than older SSDs. This means you likely won't need a heatsink, and it should work flawlessly in your PS5 without thermal throttling. Adding a heatsink is certainly an option for extra peace of mind, though the added cost of around $7 might not be worth it.
