"Quick XP and Leveling Guide for Assassin’s Creed Shadows"

By DanielApr 15,2025

In *Assassin's Creed Shadows*, mastering the art of leveling up your Samurai and Shinobi is key to dominating the game. To accelerate your XP gain, you need to know the most effective ways to farm XP. Here’s your guide to doing just that.

What Awards XP in Assassin’s Creed Shadows? Answered

In *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*, XP is your ticket to leveling up both your Samurai and Shinobi. You can earn XP through a variety of actions, including killing enemies, assassinating targets, completing quests, and engaging in side content. The amount of XP awarded varies significantly, so it’s crucial to focus on the most rewarding activities. You can preview the XP reward for each quest or activity by hovering over it on the map or in the objectives tab. The quickest ways to rack up XP are by tackling castles and performing optional assassinations.

How to Get Fast XP from Castles in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Sakamato Castle awards 3,000 XP in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Japan in *Assassin’s Creed Shadows* is dotted with castles, each a fortress teeming with basic and elite enemies, as well as Samurai Daisho who you need to take down. Clearing a castle by killing the required number of Daisho allows you to claim a chest filled with high-tier loot. Completing a castle alone can net you a few thousand XP, but there are additional ways to boost your XP haul:

  • Each enemy you defeat awards XP, with elites and Samurai Daisho offering significant bonuses, around 250 XP each.
  • Synchronizing at the castle's high point not only gives you a few hundred XP but also unlocks it as a fast travel point, enhancing your mobility across the game world.

Tackling castles can be challenging, but with the right approach, you can maximize your XP gain:

  • Choose your protagonist wisely. Naoe’s Eagle’s Vision ability is perfect for stealthily identifying and tagging the Samurai Daisho, allowing for quick assassinations. Enhance Naoe’s assassination damage through mastery and engravings to ensure one-hit kills.
  • For lower to medium levels, opt for Yasuke. Rush into the castle, trigger the alarm, and engage enemies in open combat to swiftly clear the area.

With these strategies, you can potentially earn over 4,000 XP in just a few minutes.

Beyond the main quest's required assassinations, *Assassin’s Creed Shadows* offers numerous optional assassination targets. You can uncover these quests by speaking with specific NPCs and using scouts to track down targets. Utilize fast travel points like Kakurega to get close to your target quickly, then ride to them and strike swiftly.

Each assassination not only grants XP for the kill (similar to elite enemy kills) but also a substantial bonus for completing the quest, typically around 2,000-3,000 XP. Completing an entire group of assassination targets and reporting back to the quest giver can earn you a whopping 5,000 XP bonus.
