"PSA: Days Gone Remastered $10 PS5 Upgrade Unavailable for PS Plus Redemptions"

By NoahApr 15,2025

During Sony’s recent State of Play showcase, the announcement of Days Gone Remastered caught the attention of many gamers, but it has sparked frustration among some PlayStation Plus subscribers due to the $10 upgrade policy. Sony has clarified that this $10 upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version is exclusively for those who own the PlayStation 4 disc or a digital copy of Days Gone. Unfortunately, players who redeemed the game through the PS Plus subscription service, including those who obtained it from the now-defunct PS Plus Collection or as an Essential monthly game in April 2021, are not eligible for this discounted upgrade. This means that PS Plus owners must pay the full $49.99 to access the new PS5 version of the game.

The exclusion of PS Plus subscribers from the $10 upgrade has led to a wave of discontent online. On platforms like the PlayStation Plus subreddit, subscribers have expressed their disappointment. Many have stated that they would have been willing to pay $10 to experience the remastered version on PS5, but are unwilling to purchase it at full price. Comments from users such as squarejellyfish_, who noted that Sony could have earned a significant amount by allowing PS Plus players to upgrade, and teckn9ne79, who vowed to stick with their existing version, reflect the general sentiment.

User dredizzle99 called the decision “pretty stupid,” arguing that Sony is missing out on potential sales from the large PS Plus community. Similarly, jackanyon95 criticized the move, suggesting that Sony is choosing to forgo additional revenue by not allowing upgrades for those who received the game for free. These sentiments underscore a sense of frustration among fans who feel that Sony’s decision is not only restrictive but also potentially detrimental to sales.

While some PS Plus subscribers are vocal about their disappointment, others understand Sony’s financial strategy, noting that the company likely made this decision after careful consideration. Despite this, Sony has been labeled “stingy” by some of its loyal fans who were hoping for a more generous approach from PlayStation.
