PS5 Price Rises Again in Europe, Australia, New Zealand

By ChristianApr 15,2025

Sony has announced an increase in the recommended retail prices (RRPs) for PlayStation 5 consoles in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, effective from April 14. The decision to raise prices stems from a challenging economic climate characterized by high inflation and fluctuating exchange rates. These changes were officially communicated through a post on the PlayStation Blog.

In Europe, the PS5 Digital Edition will now cost €500, while the price of the standard PS5 with a disc drive remains unchanged. In the UK, the PS5 Digital Edition is set at £430, with no alterations to the standard PS5's price. Australian gamers will see the standard PS5 with a disc drive priced at AUD $830, and the PS5 Digital Edition at AUD $750. For those in New Zealand, the standard PS5 will be NZD $950, and the PS5 Digital Edition will be NZD $860. Notably, the price of the PS5 Pro remains the same.

This move follows similar price hikes implemented in 2022, resulting in the PS5 becoming significantly more expensive in many regions compared to its initial launch prices. In Europe and the UK, the PS5 Digital Edition has risen by €100 and £70, respectively, from its launch price of €400/£360. In Australia, the standard PS5 has increased by AUD $80 from AUD $750, and the digital edition by AUD $150 from AUD $600. New Zealand sees the standard PS5 up by NZD $130 from NZD $820, and the digital version by NZD $210 from NZD $650.

Interestingly, the RRP for the PS5 disc drive is set to decrease, now available at €80/£70/AUD $125/NZD $140, offering a more affordable option for gamers looking to expand their console's capabilities.
