Preorder GeForce RTX 5090, RTX 5080 Gaming PCs: Where to Buy

By JackMay 04,2025

The first wave of 2025 prebuilt gaming PCs featuring the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 and 5090 graphics cards is now available for purchase. Leading retailers such as Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg, Adorama, and B&H Photo have launched fresh listings on their sites today. If you're in the market for a complete system with one of these cutting-edge GPUs, now is your prime opportunity to secure one. This is especially crucial as you'll have to wait until the end of Q1 for big OEM manufacturers like Dell (Alienware), HP (Omen), and Lenovo (Legion) to release their own systems equipped with these GPUs.

If you're after a standalone GPU rather than a prebuilt system, you're in the wrong place. Instead, check out our comprehensive RTX 5090 and 5080 preorder guide to find out which retailers are likely to have them in stock. Be aware that launch-day GPU stock tends to sell out in hours, if not minutes. Retailers have already warned of inventory shortages, and recent Nvidia GPU launches have been plagued by bots snapping up large quantities for resale at inflated prices.

Dell has just launched its new Alienware Area-51 lineup of gaming PCs today, available in only two configurations, both featuring an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K and GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, starting at a hefty price of $4,449.99. Don't expect immediate delivery, as Dell estimates these systems will arrive by April 22.

New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

Dell unveiled the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The chassis design is an evolution of the 2024 R16 system, featuring minor aesthetic and cooling redesigns along with updated components. The I/O panel is now positioned at the top of the case rather than the front, and the tempered glass window covers the entire side panel, removing the need for side panel vents. Air intakes are now located at the bottom and front of the case, promoting a positive airflow design for a cleaner interior. The internal components have been refreshed, including a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest generation of CPUs and RTX 50 series GPUs.

Boutique PC Retailers with Built-to-Order RTX 50XX Systems

Some retailers are now offering the ability to add RTX 5090 and/or 5080 GPUs to select built-to-order systems in their configurators. New RTX 50-series GPU configs are available at iBuyPower, Origin PC, Maingear, Starforge Systems, NZXT, and Digital Storm. While RTX 50-series systems are readily available through this method, keep in mind that custom-built systems can be significantly more expensive and often less cost-effective.

Dell (Alienware), HP, and Lenovo Prebuilt PCs Coming Later

The big three OEM computer retailers won't equip their prebuilt gaming desktop PCs with the new RTX 50-series GPUs until later this year. At CES 2025, Dell showcased its Alienware Area-51 gaming PC, which we expect to launch with Nvidia's new GPUs sometime in Q1. HP plans to offer the RTX 5090 and 5080 as options for its flagship Omen 45L, potentially in mid or late February. Lenovo has yet to announce when it will start adding the new GPUs to its Legion Tower gaming desktops, so no expected launch date is currently available.

Our RTX 5090 FE and 5080 FE Reviews Are Live

Nvidia officially announced the 50-series GPUs at CES 2025, focusing heavily on new and improved AI features over hardware-based raster performance. DLSS 4 technology is said to quadruple the frame rate with minimal visual compromise. While these new GPUs do offer a modest performance boost, opinions are mixed regarding their value for PC gamers compared to the previous RTX 40-series cards.

In our review of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE, Jackie Thomas noted that "the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially taken the performance crown from the RTX 4090, albeit with less force than previous generations. For traditional non-AI gaming performance, the RTX 5090 offers one of the smallest generational uplifts in recent memory. However, in games that support it, DLSS 4 delivers significant performance gains – though you must accept that 75% of the frames are generated by AI."

Play

In our review of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE, Jackie offers a similar perspective: "If you already own a high-end graphics card from the last couple of years, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 may not be worth the upgrade – it offers only a marginal performance improvement over the RTX 4080. However, the additional frames from DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation do enhance gameplay in supported titles. For gamers with older graphics cards seeking a significant performance boost, the RTX 5080 is a solid choice, especially if you're comfortable with Nvidia’s AI features."
