"New Predator Unveiled in 'Badlands' Trailer: Unlike Any Before"

The much-anticipated sequel, Predator: Badlands, has unveiled its first teaser trailer, sparking excitement across the sci-fi and action movie communities. The trailer, which recently surfaced online, introduces us to Elle Fanning's character, who seems to inhabit a perilous future on a distant planet. What sets this installment apart is the twist on the classic Predator narrative: the teaser hints that the Predator might take on the role of a protagonist this time. The tagline, "The director of Prey welcomes you to a world of pain," sets the stage for an intense cinematic experience.

In the trailer, we catch glimpses that suggest connections to the Alien universe, fueling speculation that Predator: Badlands could pave the way for a new Aliens vs Predator film. A notable detail is Elle Fanning's eyes, which display the Weyland Yutani logo—a nod to the nefarious corporation central to the Alien franchise. This has led some to theorize that her character might be a synthetic, akin to the characters in Alien: Romulus.

Predator: Badlands was first announced in February 2024, with its release date later confirmed for November 7, 2025. Although the trailer debuted at CinemaCon, this is the first time the general public has had a chance to see what the film has in store.

20th Century Studios provided an official synopsis at CinemaCon: "In the future on a remote planet, a young Predator, outcast from his clan, finds an unlikely ally in Thia and embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary."

Elle Fanning shared some insights at CinemaCon, stating, "Something unprecedented happens in this movie. My character is not the one being chased. My character actually teams up with the Predator. And you get to see him in a completely new light. And... I'll stop there!"

Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, known for his work on 10 Cloverfield Lane and the Predator prequel Prey, and co-written by Trachtenberg and Patrick Aison, Predator: Badlands promises to deliver a fresh perspective on the iconic franchise.
