Pokemon GO Event Adding Long-Requested Feature for a Limited Time

Pokemon GO's Fashion Week: Taken Over event introduces a highly anticipated feature: remote raid pass compatibility with Shadow Raids. This limited-time opportunity, running from January 15th, 12:00 a.m. to January 19th, 8:00 p.m. local time, allows players to participate in one-star, three-star, and five-star Shadow Raids remotely or in person.

This event presents a unique chance to capture Pokémon with enhanced IV stats. The convenience extends to the Shadow Ho-Oh Raid Day on January 19th (2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time), offering boosted shiny Shadow Ho-Oh encounter rates and the ability to teach it Sacred Fire. Furthermore, players can utilize Charged TMs to remove the Frustration move from Shadow Pokémon.

While this functionality is temporary, the inclusion of remote raid passes in Shadow Raids fulfills a significant player request since their 2023 introduction. The temporary nature of this feature leaves the future of remote Shadow Raids uncertain, although the positive reception could influence Niantic's decision regarding permanent implementation. This development addresses previous criticisms concerning the in-person requirement for challenging raids, potentially increasing accessibility and enjoyment for a wider player base.
