Guns Undarkness Unveils Free Steam Demo at Next Fest
Get ready to experience Guns Undarkness, a tactical stealth RPG spearheaded by Shoji Meguro, the composer behind the Persona series and Metaphor: ReFantazio. He's joined by Ilya Kuvshinov, the character artist known for Ghost in the Shell, and rapper Lotus Juice, a prominent figure in the Persona 3 soundtrack.
Meguro, a veteran of Atlus since 1995, has crafted memorable soundtracks for iconic titles like Shin Megami Tensei and the Persona franchise. In 2021, he transitioned into indie development while continuing his work with Atlus. Guns Undarkness, a sci-fi stealth action JRPG published by Kodansha Game Creators Lab, marks a significant step in his independent career.
Initially revealed at Indie Live Expo Winter 2021 and successfully funded via a Kickstarter campaign in 2022, Guns Undarkness is poised for its debut. A free demo will be available during the Steam Next Fest, commencing February 24, 2025, with early access planned for later that year.
Inspired by Metal Gear Solid and Persona
Blending the tactical stealth of Metal Gear Solid with the compelling narrative of Persona, Guns Undarkness throws players into a dystopian 2045. As a member of a private military company, you'll embark on perilous missions, forge alliances, and unravel the mysteries threatening humanity's survival.
Gameplay seamlessly integrates stealth and turn-based combat. Utilize the environment to your advantage during stealth sections, gaining a significant edge in subsequent encounters. Battles unfold turn by turn, demanding strategic deployment of your team and weaponry.
The demo offers approximately 20 minutes of gameplay, encompassing a tutorial covering controls, combat mechanics, weaponry, and early-game strategies. Early Access is slated for Spring 2025 on PC, promising around 10 hours of gameplay. A precise release date remains unannounced.
