Max has unveiled an exciting new trailer for Peacemaker Season 2, which significantly enhances the show's connections to the Superman universe by introducing Maxwell Lord, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner right from the opening scene. The trailer begins with Sean Gunn portraying Maxwell Lord, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner / Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl conducting a rather dismissive interview with John Cena's character, Peacemaker, for a potential superhero team. The interview quickly deteriorates, leaving Peacemaker visibly dejected as he storms out.

These characters are not only key to Peacemaker Season 2 but also set to appear in James Gunn's upcoming Superman movie, offering fans a fresh look at these supporting figures within the DC Universe (DCU).

Peacemaker Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on August 21, following the July 11 release of Superman, marking it as the third entry in the new DCU after the Creature Commandos TV series, which launched the revamped universe late last year.

This new cinematic universe, spearheaded by James Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran, diverges from the critically panned DC Extended Universe (DCEU), which included films like Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Man of Steel. However, certain elements from the DCEU will carry over into the DCU. Peacemaker serves as a prime example of this continuity, having begun in the DCEU with Season 1 and now transitioning into the DCU with Season 2.

James Gunn has stated that "many strands will remain consistent as far as Peacemaker's story goes," though the specifics of what will transfer from the DCEU to the DCU remain uncertain. He has confirmed that all members of Team Peacemaker will return with the same actors, including John Cena as Peacemaker, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo.

Furthermore, Gunn has noted that Peacemaker Season 2 will take place after the events of both Creature Commandos and Superman, with the events of Superman directly impacting Peacemaker.
