Oscar Isaac Confirmed for Star Wars Celebration, Fuels Return Rumors

By AaliyahMay 16,2025

Star Wars Celebration 2025 is set to ignite excitement among fans with an official appearance from Sequel Trilogy star Oscar Isaac. Scheduled in Tokyo from April 18 to 20, the event has sparked speculation about the return of Poe Dameron to the Star Wars universe. The announcement of Isaac's participation was made via the official Star Wars Celebration Instagram, fueling rumors akin to those that followed Daisy Ridley's appearance at Star Wars Celebration 2023, where she revealed her involvement in an upcoming film.

The Sequel Trilogy concluded in 2019 with Star Wars: Episode 9 - The Rise of Skywalker. Since then, Isaac has expressed a range of sentiments regarding his involvement with the franchise. Initially, in 2020, he jokingly mentioned he'd return if he needed "another house or something." However, by 2022, his stance had softened to being "open to anything," as shared in an interview with Variety.

Isaac has also been vocal about his disappointment with Disney for rejecting his idea of a romantic storyline between Poe Dameron and Finn, played by John Boyega. Boyega himself has had mixed feelings about his experience with the franchise but has expressed openness to future roles. This has led to speculation about a potential reunion of the main trio—Rey, Poe, and Finn—in the forthcoming film centered on Rey, set 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, as she endeavors to rebuild the Jedi Order.

The possibility of seeing all three characters return has fans buzzing, especially since Daisy Ridley has voiced her desire for Boyega to join her in the new project. With Poe completing the trio, Isaac's return could be a natural fit. Answers to these burning questions may be forthcoming at Star Wars Celebration 2025, but otherwise, fans might need to wait until the Rey film, directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, which is currently slated for a potential release on December 17, 2027, despite numerous delays in the Star Wars film lineup.
