Nintendo has officially confirmed that players will be able to utilize the innovative Switch 2 Joy-Con mouse controls directly on the Home screen, enhancing user interaction and navigation. Ever since the Nintendo Switch 2 was unveiled, the gaming community has been buzzing with anticipation and speculation about the capabilities of the new Joy-Con's mouse controls. Last month, we received the much-awaited confirmation that the Joy-Con can indeed switch to a "mouse mode," allowing players to glide the controllers across surfaces. This mode lets the analog sticks mimic the functionality of a left-click and right-click, much like a traditional mouse. Additionally, players can use two Joy-Con simultaneously in mouse mode, either with one in each hand or one in standard mode and the other in mouse mode, providing versatile control options.
Further details have now emerged, showcased on the Nintendo Today app and shared on X/Twitter. The Joy-Con 2 mouse controls are not only limited to gameplay but can also be used to navigate the Home menu on the Switch 2. As demonstrated, "placing the Joy-Con 2 controller on a surface with the attachment side facing down will cause a cursor to appear on the screen," according to Nintendo. To activate the cursor, simply set the Joy-Con 2 on a table or any flat surface and move it accordingly.

Nintendo further explained that "while using mouse controls, you can tilt the control stick to scroll through menus." This feature extends to both the Home menu and compatible software. When you want to revert to using the thumbstick, simply reposition the Joy-Con 2 horizontally.
While the full list of mouse-compatible games remains undisclosed, Nintendo has already demonstrated the technology in action with the Switch 2 versions of Mario Party Jamboree and Metroid Prime 4, as well as the wheelchair basketball game Drag x Drive.
The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 is set to make its debut on June 5. Pre-orders for the Switch 2 opened on April 24, maintaining a price point of $449.99.
