Nintendo has recently disclosed the pricing for upgrading two more popular titles from their original Nintendo Switch versions to the enhanced Nintendo Switch 2 editions: Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree. These upgrades come with a hefty price tag, significantly higher than the costs associated with upgrading other titles.
For instance, the cost to upgrade The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to their respective Switch 2 Editions is $9.99 each. However, NintendoLife has reported that the upgrades for both Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree are more than double this amount.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild boasts improved visuals and performance, along with achievements and support for the new "Zelda Notes" service on the Nintendo Switch Online app. Owners of the original Switch version can access these new features by purchasing an "upgrade pack" for $10.
The Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land introduces new story content in the Star-Crossed World. On the other hand, Super Mario Party Jamboree's Switch 2 Edition includes a new feature suite called Jamboree TV, which utilizes the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, Switch 2 microphone, and the Switch 2 USB-C camera, available separately. This edition also supports upgraded resolution up to 1440p in TV mode, enhanced frame rates, new minigames, and improved online functionalities.
While the U.S. prices are not yet available on the American Nintendo eShop, potentially due to President Trump's tariffs, the UK Nintendo eShop lists the upgrade pack for Kirby and the Forgotten Land at £16.99 / €19.99, which is more than double the £7.99 / €9.99 required for upgrading Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. The same price applies to the Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV upgrade, suggesting a U.S. price of $19.99.
This higher upgrade cost may be influenced by the full price of the Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of both Kirby and the Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World and Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV, which are listed at $79.99 each. In contrast, their original Switch versions are priced at $59.99.
Here is the pricing for the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games in the U.S. for those not opting for the upgrade:
- Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World - $79.99
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $69.99
- Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV - $79.99
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $79.99
It's worth noting that the upgrade packs for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are available at no additional cost to Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscribers. However, no similar offer exists for those looking to upgrade Kirby or Super Mario Party Jamboree.
Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2, priced at $449.99, opened on April 24 and were met with overwhelming demand. Nintendo has warned U.S. customers who pre-ordered through the My Nintendo Store that delivery on the release date is not guaranteed due to this high demand.
