The Ninja Gaiden franchise is back thanks to Phil Spencer

Team Ninja's long-awaited Ninja Gaiden sequel is finally in development, thanks to a collaboration between Team Ninja, Koei Tecmo, and PlatinumGames, facilitated by Xbox's Phil Spencer. The project, initially discussed as far back as 2017, saw Spencer suggest the three studios combine their expertise. PlatinumGames, renowned for titles like Bayonetta and NieR: Automata, brings its action-game prowess to the project.

The surprise announcement of Ninja Gaiden 4 coincided with a re-release of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black for Xbox, PlayStation 5, and PC. Early footage showcases Ryu Hayabusa returning as the protagonist in a fast-paced, action-heavy title. New gameplay mechanics, including traversal using wires and rails, are hinted at, setting it apart from previous entries.

While DOOM: The Dark Ages dominated the Developer_Direct event, the reveal of Ninja Gaiden 4, a highly anticipated addition to the Koei Tecmo franchise, also generated significant excitement. The game is slated for release in Fall 2025.
