Netflix Cancels

Netflix has officially announced the closure of its interactive fiction games under the Netflix Stories banner, marking the end of a brief yet intriguing foray into narrative gaming. Despite having a dedicated player base, the decision to cancel Netflix Stories may come as a surprise to many fans. So, why did Netflix decide to pull the plug on these games? Let's delve into the details!

The news, initially confirmed by Variety, aligns with a broader strategic shift at Netflix Games. The company plans to refocus its efforts on developing mobile titles that cater to party games, children's games, mainstream releases, and more interactive experiences that can be enjoyed on TV screens.

Boss Fight Entertainment, the creative force behind the Netflix Stories series, will continue their collaboration with Netflix on other projects, including the highly anticipated Squid Game: Unleashed.

Netflix Stories Gets Cancelled, So Is It Shutting Down?

Despite receiving mixed reviews, Netflix Stories consistently ranked among the most-played titles in the Netflix Games lineup. According to recent data, it secured the fourth position in the Netflix Games top 10 carousel, which ranks games based on playtime rather than downloads.

As for the future of the series, Love Is Blind: NYC will be the last interactive title to roll out. Once its launch is complete, no new games will be developed under the Netflix Stories banner. This announcement comes on the heels of the Netflix Stories app teasing its next game, The Love Contract, which was slated for an April 8th release. This unique title, unlike its predecessors, wasn't based on any existing Netflix IP but offered an original romance story about an actress navigating a complex love triangle with a Hollywood star and a billionaire amidst fame, scandal, and fake dating. Unfortunately, The Love Contract has now been scrapped.

Although the development of new games has been halted, existing Netflix Stories titles will remain available for play. Fans can still enjoy games such as Love Is Blind, Emily in Paris, Money Heist, Love Is Blind: Winter’s Kiss, Perfect Match, Sex Education, Selling Sunset, Sweet Magnolias, Virgin River, and The Perfect Couple. However, planned sequels like Outer Banks and Ginny & Georgia have been cancelled.

That's the full story on the cancellation of Netflix Stories! If you're a fan of Netflix shows and interactive gaming, you can still explore these titles on the Google Play Store.
