By IsaacMar 14,2025

Netflix is adapting the acclaimed video game Sifu into a feature film. Initially announced in 2022 as a collaboration between Netflix, Story Kitchen, and Sloclap (the game's developer), the project has significantly expanded its production team. Deadline reports that T.S. Nowlin, screenwriter for the Maze Runner franchise and Netflix's Project Adam, has joined to write the screenplay. While Derek Kolstad's involvement, previously announced as a writer on the adaptation, remains uncertain.

Adding considerable weight to the production, Chad Stahelski, director of the John Wick films, and his production company 87Eleven Entertainment will serve as executive producers. Stahelski is also attached to another major video game adaptation, Ghost of Tsushima.

Released in 2022, Sifu rapidly gained popularity, selling over one million copies in its first three weeks. The game follows a young martial artist's quest for revenge after their master's murder. Using a mystical pendant that allows resurrection at the cost of accelerated aging, the protagonist faces perilous challenges and intricate plots.
