Marvel Rivals, the acclaimed hero shooter, is a smash hit on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. However, NetEase, the developer, has previously ruled out a Nintendo Switch release due to performance limitations. But what about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2?
Recently, at the DICE Summit in Las Vegas, we spoke with Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu. He revealed that a Switch 2 port is a definite possibility. Wu stated, "We're already in contact with Nintendo and working on some development kits. If we can deliver a high-quality gaming experience on the Switch 2, we're absolutely open to it. The original Switch couldn't handle the game's performance demands. If the Switch 2 meets those requirements, we'll consider it."
The Nintendo Switch 2 was officially unveiled last month. While specifics remain scarce, it's expected to be a more powerful and enhanced system. Intriguingly, it may feature mouse-like controls, potentially bridging the gap between console and PC shooter experiences. The exact implementation, however, is yet to be seen.
A Nintendo Direct is scheduled for April 2nd, but the Switch 2's release date remains unannounced. Marvel Rivals is currently available on other platforms, and we highly recommend it. Our 8/10 review praised the game, stating that it "might closely resemble other hero shooters, but it's well-positioned to become the genre's top contender." The Human Torch and The Thing are slated to join the roster on February 21st.
