Marvel Halts Several TV Show Productions

By SamuelMar 13,2025

Marvel Television has reportedly put three shows on hold: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. Sources at Deadline indicate these projects weren't officially greenlit, leaving open the possibility of future development, but Marvel has shifted its focus.

This strategic change coincides with Marvel Studios' upcoming Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again. Brad Winderbaum, head of streaming and TV at Marvel Studios, recently revealed the studio's exploration of reuniting the street-level heroes of The Defenders—Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist.

Marvel Studios is now prioritizing the development of more shows than it produces, a cautious approach as Winderbaum previously stated to Screen Rant: “We’re really being careful about what we choose to do next.”

The news regarding Nova is particularly unexpected, especially considering reports just two months ago confirming its Disney+ series status and naming Ed Bernero (former Criminal Minds showrunner) as writer and showrunner. (See IGN's article for more details on Nova.)

Strange Academy was anticipated to center around a magic school established by Doctor Strange, with Wong as its headmaster. Details on Terror, Inc. remain scarce.

Currently confirmed Marvel TV show release dates include: Daredevil: Born Again (March 4th on Disney+), Ironheart (June 24th), and Wonder Man (December). Following the release of Captain America: Brave New World, three MCU films are scheduled for release this year, including Thunderbolts (May) and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
