Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Reaches Impressive Sales Milestone

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Resurgence: Over 200,000 Units Sold!

Released late last year, the Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP remaster has exceeded 200,000 units sold, demonstrating strong player demand. Despite initial technical hiccups and controversy surrounding content changes, the game's sales figures clearly indicate its success.

Developed by Dragami Games (the original was by Grasshopper Manufacture), this action-packed hack-and-slash title retains the core gameplay that made the original a hit: players wield chainsaws as Juliet Starling, a cheerleader battling hordes of zombies. Dragami Games enhanced the remaster with improved visuals and quality-of-life features.

This sales milestone, announced by Dragami Games on Twitter, encompasses sales across all platforms—current and last-gen consoles, and PC. The achievement is particularly noteworthy given its arrival several months after the September 2024 launch.

Celebrating Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Sales Triumph

Lollipop Chainsaw casts players as Juliet Starling, a San Romero High cheerleader who discovers her zombie-hunting heritage when her school is invaded by the undead. Fast-paced, chainsaw-fueled combat against waves of zombies and unique bosses evokes the style of Bayonetta and other classic third-person action games.

While the RePOP remaster has achieved significant sales, it still lags behind the original PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 release, which reportedly sold over one million copies in 2012. The original's success was likely fueled by the unique collaboration between Goichi Suda (renowned game designer) and James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy director), who contributed to the game's narrative.

The future of Lollipop Chainsaw remains uncertain. While there's no official word on sequels or additional content, the RePOP remaster's success bodes well for future remasters of cult classic games. This positive trend is further underscored by the recent release of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, another Grasshopper Manufacture title updated for modern platforms.
