007's First Actor ID Suspect Emerges

By AllisonFeb 15,2026

James Bond enthusiasts were quick to identify who they believe is portraying the iconic spy in the upcoming "007 First Light."

The New Face of 007?

The game's reveal trailer during Sony's State of Play presentation introduced a fresh-faced Bond just beginning his journey as a 00 agent. Almost instantly, fans on Reddit pointed to "Dexter: New Blood" actor Patrick Gibson as the likely candidate behind the digital incarnation.

Social media exploded with recognition as fans connected Gibson's distinctive features to the virtual Bond. "That signature smirk gave it away immediately," commented one sharp-eyed observer, while another noted: "The facial expressions felt instantly familiar - it's gotta be him."

The Dublin-born performer, who recently turned 30, would be playing a slightly younger version of Bond than his actual age suggests. His previous work in shows like "Shadow and Bone" and "The OA" helped cement his acting credentials, though his breakout role came as a younger Dexter Morgan in the prequel series.

Developer Mystique Continues

Interestingly, developer IO Interactive has remained tight-lipped about the casting, neither confirming nor denying Gibson's involvement. When reached for comment by IGN, the studio offered no official confirmation about the internet's detective work.

The reveal trailer showcased what players can expect from "007 First Light" - a globe-spanning narrative adventure blending high-octane action with Bond's characteristic wit. Several scenes highlighted the character delivering sharp one-liners while maneuvering through dangerous situations.

Set for release in 2026 across major platforms including PlayStation 5 and the next-generation Nintendo Switch, the game represents the first original 007 story from the "Hitman" creators.
