Insomniac Games almost gave us Resistance 4. While a pitch was made and the concept was strong, according to Insomniac founder and retiring president Ted Price, the timing and market opportunity weren't right. In a recent interview with Kinda Funny Games, Price revealed this unmade game as a personal favorite, expressing the team's passion for continuing the Resistance storyline. He noted the series' unique alternate history setting, with its Chimera aliens, offered rich potential for further exploration of their origins and future conflicts.
The Resistance series, a trilogy of first-person shooters developed by Insomniac for the PlayStation 3, depicts an alternate 1951 where aliens invade the UK. Following the success of the Ratchet & Clank games, Insomniac shifted focus to other projects, including the highly successful Marvel's Spider-Man series and new Ratchet & Clank titles.
Price recently announced his retirement from Insomniac Games after a 30-year tenure, passing the torch to Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider, and Jen Huang as Co-Studio Heads. Insomniac's latest release, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, recently launched on PC, with Marvel's Wolverine next in the pipeline.
