Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Is Proof 'You Don't Need AI to Steal My Soul,' Harrison Ford Says

By GabriellaMar 21,2025

Harrison Ford, the iconic Indiana Jones, has praised Troy Baker's performance as the beloved adventurer in the video game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, stating that it proves "you don't need artificial intelligence to steal my soul." Speaking with The Wall Street Journal Magazine, Ford expressed his satisfaction with Baker's portrayal, emphasizing the talent and creative vision behind the successful performance. He declared, "You don’t need artificial intelligence to steal my soul. You can already do it for nickels and dimes with good ideas and talent. He did a brilliant job, and it didn’t take AI to do it."

Released in December, The Great Circle offers an "authentic," though perhaps non-canonical, addition to the long-running Indiana Jones franchise. This new game's positive reception contrasts sharply with the less favorable response to the 2023 film, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. This disparity in reception might influence future franchise decisions, potentially shifting focus towards video game adaptations instead of further film installments starring Ford.

Ford joins a growing chorus of creatives expressing concerns about the use of AI in media. He stands alongside figures like Tim Burton, who described AI-generated art as "very disturbing," and Nicolas Cage, who deemed it a "dead end." The concerns extend to the voice acting community, with actors such as Ned Luke (Grand Theft Auto 5) and Doug Cockle (The Witcher) voicing their opposition to AI's potential to displace actors and undermine their livelihoods. While acknowledging AI's inevitability, Cockle highlighted its inherent dangers and the threat it poses to actors' income.
