Compulsion Games' upcoming action-adventure title, South of Midnight, unveiled its release date and gameplay mechanics at the Xbox Developer Direct 2025. Inspired by Deep South folklore, the game promises a captivating journey.

Story and Release:

The narrative, detailed by Compulsion Games' Zaire Lanier, centers on Hazel, who, after a hurricane destroys her home, embarks on a quest to find her missing mother. This journey leads her to uncover her own magical heritage as a Weaver, capable of manipulating the threads of fate. The game's setting, the town of Prospero, boasts diverse Southern-inspired locales, from swampy lowlands to Appalachian peaks.

Hazel encounters fantastical creatures from Southern myths, including Catfish, a talking giant catfish who reveals her abilities. She must battle corrupted creatures called Haints, using her Weaving powers to cleanse them and restore balance. The game launches April 8th, 2025, with early access on April 3rd for the Premium Edition ($49.99). The standard edition is priced at $39.99, and Game Pass subscribers can play on launch day.
