IDW's Godzilla vs. Los Angeles to Benefit Wildfire Relief Charity

Following the Chicago installment, the series continues its destructive path with Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1, a four-story anthology showcasing Godzilla's attack on the City of Angels. The release timing of Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1 coincides unfortunately with the devastating wildfires impacting Los Angeles. Acknowledging the sensitivity of the situation, IDW has pledged to donate all proceeds from the comic's sales to the Book Industry Charitable Foundation (Binc), supporting bookstores and comic shops affected by the fires. This commitment is detailed in a letter to retailers and readers, emphasizing the publisher's dedication to its community and highlighting the unintentional mirroring of the comic's theme with real-world events. The letter also clarifies that the comic, in development since July of the previous year, is not intended to exploit the situation but rather to continue exploring themes of resilience in the face of adversity.

Associate editor Nicolas Niño, a Los Angeles native, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the collaboration with talented Los Angeles-based artists and the diverse stories featured in the comic, including Godzilla battling giant lowrider mechs and navigating the city's subway system. Niño emphasizes the unifying theme of Angelenos banding together against an overwhelming force of nature, making the comic a fitting tribute to the city's spirit.
