Lenovo has put an end to the swirling rumors about a PC port of Halo 5: Guardians. A promotional image for the Lenovo Legion Go S had sparked speculation by suggesting that the game would be coming to Steam. However, Lenovo clarified that the image was merely a mockup design, not a confirmation of a PC release. Ben Green, Lenovo's senior community manager, succinctly dismissed the rumors with a "No lol" when asked if this was a leak related to the upcoming Xbox Developer Direct event.
Currently, Halo 5: Guardians stands out as the only mainline Halo game yet to be released on PC, a noticeable gap especially since Halo: The Master Chief Collection made its way to the platform. The situation is peculiar given that a PC version of the Halo 5: Guardians Forge editor was released back in 2016, but the complete game experience has not followed suit. Despite persistent rumors over the years, no solid evidence has emerged to support a PC port.
While the recent Lenovo incident does not confirm a PC release, it does not rule out the possibility either. Microsoft's increasing focus on the PC platform in recent times might eventually lead to a decision to bring all Halo titles to PC. However, at the moment, there's no concrete evidence to suggest that Halo 5: Guardians will be coming to PC in the near future.
The Halo franchise itself is currently navigating through an interesting period. Halo Studios, formerly known as 343 Industries, is actively updating Halo Infinite with new content, yet there's a growing demand within the community for fresh experiences. Looking ahead to 2025, rumors are circulating about a potential remake of Halo: Combat Evolved and the possibility of The Master Chief Collection making its way to PlayStation. If these rumors hold true, it could mark a significant shift in the franchise's direction.
