The Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) has achieved a remarkable feat by setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest unboxing livestream, opening 20,000 cards in a continuous 24-hour marathon. This incredible achievement was celebrated with the help of well-known internet personalities, showcasing the vibrant community and excitement surrounding the latest Pokémon TCG expansion.

The Longest Unboxing Livestream to Date
On November 26, 2024, The Pokémon Company shattered the previous record in the Guinness World Record's longest unboxing livestream category. This marathon event was organized to celebrate the release of the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion of the Pokémon TCG.
The livestream, which was broadcasted on Pokémon's Twitch channel, featured prominent figures such as Serebii's webmaster Joe Merrick, and social media influencers PokeGirl Ranch and Mayplaystv. Over the course of more than 24 hours, these personalities opened 1,500 booster packs and unveiled various other Pokémon products, amassing an estimated total of over 20,000 cards, according to Pokémon's Official Press website.
Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed immense pride in this accomplishment, stating, “It’s been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we’re thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title alongside an amazing team of content creators.”
The excitement doesn't end with the record-breaking event. Pokémon fans can look forward to more product giveaways on content creators' channels in the coming weeks, as announced on the Pokémon's Official Press website.
The cards collected during the marathon will be organized into binders and donated to charities ahead of the holiday season, including Barnardo’s in the UK, demonstrating Pokémon's commitment to giving back to the community.
