In *Monster Hunter Wilds*, Sharp Fangs are an essential early-game resource used for crafting beginner-tier armor sets like Chatacabra and Talioth. If you're looking to gather or farm them efficiently, the Windward Plains region offers a reliable opportunity right from the start of your journey.
How to Get Sharp Fang in Monster Hunter Wilds
To begin your hunt for Sharp Fangs, take on one of the early optional quests such as “Beware the Chatacabra” or “The Desert is Demanding.” These quests will transport you to the Windward Plains with a generous 50-minute time limit. Before heading out, consider preparing and consuming a meal to boost your stats and improve efficiency.
Once in the Windward Plains, travel east—either on foot or using your Seikret—to Area 8. This expansive zone is filled with small monsters that often roam solo or in herds. While several of these creatures can drop Sharp Fangs, there’s one monster you’ll want to prioritize above the rest: the Gaijos.
Gaijos
Gaijos are small leviathans commonly found near riverbeds or swimming in water. Their crocodile-like bodies and uniquely shaped snouts make them easy to identify. You can locate them by scanning for purple diamond icons on your interactive map near water sources.
Head to one of the Gaijos’ locations and dispatch them quickly with your current weapon—they’re not particularly durable compared to other local threats. Once defeated, carve their carcass to obtain 1 x Sharp Fang per kill.
Gaijos offer a guaranteed drop of Sharp Fangs, making them the most efficient target for farming this resource. There are typically four to five Gaijos present in the Windward Plains at any given time. If you need more, simply re-enter the area via any of the Windward Plains optional quests to continue farming.
Talioth
Another creature in the Windward Plains capable of dropping Sharp Fangs is the Talioth. These bipedal beasts usually travel in small packs within Area 8 and occasionally appear in Area 13. Though slightly tougher than Gaijos, they pose little threat even with starter weapons.
While carving a Talioth may yield items like Talioth Scales, there is also a chance for Sharp Fangs to drop. Additionally, hunting eight Talioths fulfills the “The Desert is Demanding” quest objective, making this a convenient way to multitask while gathering resources.
