GTA 6 Set for Fall 2025, CEO Confirms

By AndrewMar 26,2025

Grand Theft Auto 6 remains firmly scheduled for a fall 2025 release, as confirmed by its parent company, Take-Two Interactive. In their third quarter financial results report ending December 31, 2024, Take-Two explicitly listed GTA 6 for release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, indicating that the game is still on track without any delays.

In an interview with IGN prior to the financial report's release, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed confidence in the fall 2025 release window. "Look, there's always a risk of slippage and I think as soon as you say words like absolutely, you jinx things," Zelnick remarked. "So we feel really good about it [fall 2025]."

When pressed about the progress of GTA 6's development, Zelnick remained cautiously optimistic but guarded. "Look, I think the game is eagerly anticipated both internally and externally," he stated. "We know that Rockstar seeks perfection. I never claim success before it occurs. I'm fond of saying arrogance is the enemy of continued success, so we're all running scared and looking over our shoulders and we know that the competition is not asleep. Our whole organization is super excited."

The release date of GTA 6 continues to be a focal point of intense interest across the entertainment industry, with rival publishers keenly monitoring Rockstar's moves. EA CEO Andrew Wilson recently hinted at adjusting the release of their new Battlefield game based on the timing of competitors' releases, a clear reference to the impact GTA 6 is expected to have.

While the release window for GTA 6 holds steady, fans eagerly await the second trailer, which remains unreleased over a year after the first trailer dropped. This delay has fueled rampant speculation within the community. In the meantime, IGN offers more insights into GTA 6, including comments from a former Rockstar developer suggesting that a decision on any potential delay might not be made until May 2025, Zelnick's elusive remarks on a possible PC version, and expert analysis on whether the PS5 Pro can run GTA 6 at 60 frames per second.

Take-Two also highlighted the continued success of their existing titles. Grand Theft Auto 5 has now sold an astonishing 210 million units worldwide, with GTA Online enjoying a robust quarter driven by the Agents of Sabotage update. Additionally, GTA+ memberships saw a 10% year-over-year increase. Red Dead Redemption 2 has sold over 70 million copies, and is currently experiencing its highest level of concurrent players on Steam.
