Freedom Wars Remastered: Enhanced Gameplay and New Features Revealed
A new trailer for Freedom Wars Remastered showcases improved gameplay and control mechanics. This action RPG, set in a dystopian world, features battles against mechanical creatures (Abductors), gear upgrades, and challenging missions. The remaster boasts significant enhancements, including upgraded visuals, faster-paced combat, refined crafting, a new difficulty setting, and inclusion of all original customization DLC. Launching January 10th on PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC.
The game's origins lie in a response to Sony's loss of Monster Hunter exclusivity. Capcom's shift to Nintendo platforms spurred Sony to develop Freedom Wars for the PS Vita. While the futuristic setting differs from Monster Hunter, the core gameplay loop remains strikingly similar: players battle colossal Abductors, gather resources, and upgrade their equipment for increasingly powerful assaults.
Bandai Namco's new trailer illustrates the gameplay. It introduces the protagonist, a "Sinner" condemned for the crime of being born, in a resource-depleted dystopian society. The Sinner's sentence involves completing missions for their Panopticon (city-state), ranging from civilian rescue and Abductor destruction to capturing control systems. These missions can be tackled solo or cooperatively online.
Freedom Wars Remastered: Gameplay Enhancements Detailed
The trailer details the key improvements in Freedom Wars Remastered. Graphics receive a significant boost, reaching 2160p (4K) at 60 FPS on PS5 and PC, while PS4 offers 1080p at 60 FPS, and the Switch version runs at 1080p and 30 FPS. Gameplay is noticeably faster, thanks to streamlined design and new mechanics such as increased movement speed and improved attack cancellation.
Crafting and upgrading systems have been completely overhauled, featuring more intuitive interfaces and freely attachable/detachable modules. A new module synthesis feature allows players to enhance modules using resources from rescued citizens. Finally, a challenging "Deadly Sinner" difficulty mode caters to experienced players, and all the customization DLC from the original PS Vita release is included from the outset.
