While some U.S. Apple users might struggle to find Fortnite on the App Store at the moment, Epic assures that it will soon be searchable. In the meantime, you can access its revived store page directly. For players in the E.U., Fortnite is also available for download through the Epic Games Store and AltStore.
The return of Fortnite to iOS devices marks the end of a tumultuous chapter between Epic and Apple. The conflict began in August 2020 when both Google and Apple removed Fortnite from their stores following Epic's update that lowered V-Bucks prices and introduced a direct payment system. Epic justified this move as a stand against what they deemed "exorbitant" fees charged by Apple and Google.
The subsequent legal battle, which kept Fortnite off official storefronts for millions of players, lasted for years. The situation shifted in April when Epic CEO Tim Sweeney announced Fortnite's planned return to the iOS App Store in early May, following a ruling by a U.S. Federal District Court in California. A last-minute delay caused by continued resistance from Apple pushed back the return, but now, after five years, Fortnite is back on iOS.
Players downloading Fortnite on Apple devices can now choose between purchasing V-Bucks through the Epic Games Store or via in-app purchases. For instance, selecting the 2,800 V-Bucks pack at $22.99 allows you to pay Epic directly, earning a 20% ($4.60) credit to use on other Epic offerings.
