Fitness Boxing feat. Hatsune Miku Reviewed: New Releases, Sales, and Farewells

By SkylarMar 27,2025

Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for September 6th, 2024. This marks the final regular SwitchArcade Round-Up for TouchArcade by yours truly. After several years of bringing you news and insights on the Nintendo Switch, circumstances have led me to move on. But fear not, we're going out with a bang! Today's lineup includes a pair of reviews from Mikhail, a pair of Shaun reviews, several new release summaries, and the usual lists of new and expiring sales. Let's enjoy one last ride together!

Reviews & Mini-Views

Fitness Boxing feat. HATSUNE MIKU ($49.99)

Imagineer's Fitness Boxing series has seen some interesting collaborations, and Fitness Boxing feat. HATSUNE MIKU is no exception. This title brings the beloved virtual idol into the fitness realm, merging boxing with rhythm game mechanics to help you get in shape. Over the past few weeks, I've tested it alongside Ring Fit Adventure, and I must say, I'm thoroughly impressed.

If you're new to the Fitness Boxing series, these games use boxing and rhythm game movements to create engaging daily workouts, mini-games, and more. Fitness Boxing feat. HATSUNE MIKU introduces a dedicated mode for her songs, enhancing the experience for her fans. Note that this game is exclusively playable with Joy-Con controllers.

The game offers various difficulty levels, a free training mode, warm-ups, and comprehensive tracking features, including system-wide reminders. You can also unlock cosmetics using earned points. While the base game is solid, the main instructor's voice felt out of place, prompting me to lower it.

Overall, Fitness Boxing feat. HATSUNE MIKU is a fantastic fitness game that complements other routines like Ring Fit Adventure. It's a must-try for Miku fans and fitness enthusiasts alike.

SwitchArcade Score: 4/5

Magical Delicacy ($24.99)

Magical Delicacy from sKaule and Whitethorn Games combines Metroidvania-style platforming with cooking and crafting. As Flora, a young witch, you explore a charming world, cooking and crafting for its inhabitants. While the exploration is well-implemented, some backtracking and inventory management issues detract from the experience.

The game's pixel art visuals and music are delightful, and the settings menu offers useful options like UI scale and text adjustments, especially handy on the Switch in handheld mode. Although it shows promise, Magical Delicacy could benefit from further updates to enhance its quality of life features.

For fans of both Metroidvania and cooking games, Magical Delicacy is a solid choice, though it feels a bit undercooked in certain areas.

SwitchArcade Score: 4/5

Aero The Acro-Bat 2 ($5.99)

In the 16-bit era, many companies tried to create mascot platformers following the success of Sonic the Hedgehog. Aero The Acro-Bat managed to secure a sequel, and Aero The Acro-Bat 2 delivers a polished experience. While it may have lost some of its original charm, it remains a solid platforming adventure.

Ratalaika's emulation wrapper for this release has been upgraded, offering box and manual scans, achievements, a sprite sheet gallery, a jukebox, and various cheats. The only downside is the absence of the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive version. Fans of the original will find much to enjoy here, and even those put off by the first game's quirks might appreciate the improvements.

SwitchArcade Score: 3.5/5

Metro Quester | Osaka ($19.99)

Following the success of the original Metro Quester, Metro Quester | Osaka feels like an expansion pack set in the wetter environment of Osaka. This prequel introduces new dungeons, character types, and mechanics, requiring you to navigate by canoe at times.

The game retains the original's turn-based combat and top-down exploration, demanding careful planning and strategic play. If you enjoyed the first game, Metro Quester | Osaka will not disappoint. New players might even want to start here, as it builds upon the existing systems in intriguing ways.

NBA 2K25 ($59.99)

NBA 2K25 brings the latest iteration of the popular basketball series with improved gameplay, a new Neighborhood feature, and enhancements to MyTEAM. If you're a fan of the series, you'll need 53.3 GB of space on your memory card.

Shogun Showdown ($14.99)

Shogun Showdown offers a Japanese-inspired take on the Darkest Dungeon formula. While it sticks closely to the genre's conventions, it brings enough unique elements to warrant a look from fans of challenging roguelike RPGs.

Aero The Acro-Bat 2 ($5.99)

As mentioned earlier, Aero The Acro-Bat 2 is a refined sequel to the original. Ratalaika's enhanced emulation wrapper adds value, though the absence of the Genesis/Mega Drive version is a minor disappointment.

Sunsoft is Back! Retro Game Selection ($9.99)

Sunsoft returns with a collection of three unique Famicom titles: a side-scrolling action platformer, an adventure game, and an action-RPG. If you enjoy retro gaming, this set is a great addition to your library.
