If you're a fan of the classic strategy game ROME: Total War on Android, you're in for a treat! Feral Interactive has just released the Imperium Update, a massive free update that brings a wealth of gameplay tweaks, control improvements, and quality-of-life features to enhance your gaming experience. This update, initially rolled out for the base game, is set to expand to the standalone expansions Barbarian Invasion and Alexander next week.
What Does the Imperium Update Bring to ROME: Total War?
The Imperium Update integrates some of the most celebrated features from Feral's more recent mobile titles, such as Total War: MEDIEVAL II and EMPIRE. Players can now enjoy three new control options: Positioning Mode, Melee Mode, and Automatic Deselection. These modes offer enhanced command over units, making battles more strategic and precise. For instance, you can now effortlessly move your army, agents, or fleets by simply tapping and holding, eliminating the need to manually drag paths.
With Positioning Mode, you can fine-tune the placement of your units with ease by tapping and holding. The Group Grid feature simplifies managing unit groups with a collapsible selection menu, while Melee Mode allows ranged units to switch to close combat when necessary. One of the most significant changes introduced is the Command Slowdown, which automatically slows the game when issuing complex orders, ensuring you never miss a critical moment.
For the first time, ROME: Total War on Android (and iPad) now supports keyboard and mouse, catering to players who prefer this control scheme. The minimap has also been revamped to mirror the more user-friendly version found in MEDIEVAL II, offering smoother zooming and navigation along with a new reset button to quickly revert to the default view.
The Imperium Update is already live, so if you own ROME: Total War on Android, head over to the Google Play Store to install it now. Keep an eye out for the updates coming to Barbarian Invasion and Alexander next week, and don't miss out on the chance to elevate your gameplay experience.
