Ex-Nintendo PR Chiefs Slam Switch 2 Leaks

By ClaireSep 10,2025

Two former Nintendo of America employees have weighed in on the recent Switch 2 leaks, suggesting these disclosures have likely created significant internal chaos while diminishing Nintendo's ability to surprise its fanbase.

Recent leaks about Switch 2 have included potential launch timing details, speculated game titles for the next-generation console, and even concept images appearing online. Images claiming to show the Switch 2's motherboard and Joy-Con designs have surfaced prematurely, fueling fan speculation despite Nintendo dismissing these leaks as unofficial.

In their YouTube discussion, former Nintendo PR executives Kit Ellis and Krysta Yang drew from their decade of experience at Nintendo to analyze the leaks' potential impact. Yang described Nintendo's likely frustration:

"They're absolutely furious"

"I'm certain they're extremely upset – we're talking maximum-level frustration," Yang stated. "Remember those legendary 'hot email' warnings we'd joke about? They're absolutely blazing right now. The sheer volume of exclamation marks would be unbelievable."

The executives explained how these leaks disrupt Nintendo's operations, suggesting investigations into the breaches are likely diverting focus from the upcoming console launch preparations.

Yang painted a picture of intense internal pressure: "It creates an incredibly stressful environment when teams must juggle leak investigations alongside their regular responsibilities. The atmosphere right now must resemble a pressure cooker."

Ellis maintained confidence in Nintendo's investigative capabilities: "They have excellent internal teams dedicated to these matters. They'll undoubtedly trace these leaks back to their source."

The leaks threaten Nintendo's cherished element of surprise. "These disclosures fundamentally alter how fans will perceive Nintendo's official announcement," Ellis added.

Both former executives adamantly dismissed speculation about Nintendo deliberately leaking information. "Nintendo would never intentionally undermine its own surprises," Ellis clarified, recalling mandatory training sessions emphasizing surprise's strategic value.

Ellis elaborated: "We'd sit through lectures drilling into us that nothing matters more than delivering surprises. Nobody at Nintendo would ever consciously sabotage that."

The leaks could prompt Nintendo to overhaul its security protocols, especially considering it's been eight years since their last major hardware launch with the original Switch.
